Marking their first release in two years, Carousel Club share their jangly indie-rock anthem Calling You, a song so warm and inviting that it's sure to make its way onto some summer fun playlists (just like the one we might just have to share in the new month).
The Melbourne/Naarm sextet's latest offering feels and sounds so familiar, drawing inspiration from the dreamy indie-rock that we love so much. Spacey Jane might be a band you think of upon first listen - and instantly you can see a song like this growing up to become something that can match a track like Booster Seat.
It's got all the right ingredients for such - just make your way to the hook of the song and find yourself getting lost in the dreamy vocals and atmospheric jangly-pop guitars. It's not long before you find yourself echoing along to "let it all hang out, let go, woah-oh-oooh".
Falling in love with that hook, I can picture Carousel Club ending a summer festival set on this song, with the crowd beautifully singing along in sheer joy and happiness. That's definitely me in the front row through.
Produced by Michael Belsar (ASHWARYA, G Flip, Hayden James) and artwork by Shan Primrose, Calling You not only marks a strong return for the band, but it also marks the first single from Squinked Records, a newly founded label, management, and creative service agency based out of Melbourne/Naarm. If this is what the team are working on so early in their freshman year, then I'm keen to hear what comes next.
And that same sentiment goes for the band, with the label promising bigger things to come from Carousel Club. Let's keep an eye on them moving into the new year for some more anthemic sing-alongs.
