Homegrown Sounds is proud to present Sounds from the Suburbs - our series of all ages live music gigs, showcasing the best in local music in the heart of Canberra’s inner-north suburbs.
Returning Sunday 20th June, Gang Gang Cafe will see Nothing Rhymes with David join us from NSW, with friends and family Sal Viejo and Swoon Queen set to each perform exciting new sets in a warm and intimate setting for eager local music lovers.
Nothing Rhymes with David are a Wollongong trio lead by frontperson David James Young, who late last year dropped a surprise new album layered with rock, folk, and spoken word elements. The band will travel down and debut their third record ‘sky lonely’ for us for the first time in the nation’s capital.
Travis Salviejo is one-half of Homegrown Sounds and one-whole of Sal Viejo, their emo-folk project that had been at the heart of their music since 2018. Playing in numerous bands around Canberra and Wollongong over the years, Sal Viejo steps away from that and gives us their own taste of music that feels like a warm hug and a comforting friend to listen to.
Swoon Queen is a long time friend and equally long-time maker of sweet indie-folk music, who’s always been on our minds since she joined us for a livestream show back in lockdown. A year later, we can’t wait to have Swoon Queen join us again but this time at the beautiful Gang Gang Cafe.
